Following a vote earlier in the year, the YPSSC nominated charity is Billy’s Room, Neonatal Unit at James Cook University Hospital.
Along with raising funds for YPSSC and its activities on the evening, a donation will also be made to Billy’s Room.
Billy’s Room for the Neonatal Unit at James Cook University Hospital is a much needed purpose built bereavement suite attached to the neonatal intensive care unit for the use of parents and families of babies who unfortunately die soon after birth (expectedly or unexpectedly). This is a multifaceted bereavement project which started with a very small idea and has progressed to a potentially comprehensive service development. At present, the infrastructure is being developed with a number of other aspects of this service to last into next year and beyond.
With the support of neonatal consultant Dr Garg and the Neonatal Unit, Billy’s Room are raising money to provide a new dedicated bereavement room for the Neonatal Unit in James Cook Hospital where parents who have had to endure the loss of their baby during and after birth can have the opportunity, in peace and privacy, to spend time together.
